Govt wants additional land from DDA for industry
NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has sought 2,800 acres of additional land from DDA to facilitate setting up of new industries besides asking for certain changes in land use in the Master Plan of Delhi-2021, to fuel industrial growth.
The MPD, implemented in 2007, is set to be revised next year and the city government has sent a series of recommendations to the land-owning agency seeking easing of restrictions on land use in industrial clusters.
The government, citing a provision in the MPD for use of up to five per cent land for industrial use in the city, said approximately 2,794 acres of additional land should be given for setting up of industries in urban extensions.
Officials said the new industrial policy of Delhi government seeks to encourage investments in hi-technology and knowledge-based industrial activities and various changes are needed in the MPD to spur industrial growth, particularly of the tertiary sector.
