IRCC is Ministry of Industry's Arm to Achieve Industrial Development in Sudan: Minister
The Minister of Industry, Engineer Abdel Wahab Mohammed Osman, has said the Industrial Research and Consultancy Center is the arm of the ministry to achieve industrial development in Sudan.
During his inspection visit Wednesday to IRCC's premises the minister directed officials of the center to introduce a scientific and implementable short-term plan for development and modernizing the industrial sector so that it can contribute to country's GDP.
"The center is entrusted with the job of applying researches and consultancies for industrial purposes for the achievement of industrial development," the minister said.
He added the Sudan is endowed with huge natural resources in agricultural and animal reoccurs that needs extensive efforts for giving such resources and added valued, particularly in the field of agriculture, food, sugar and textiles.
The minister said IRCC should make headway in its relation with the private industrial sector and manufacturers so that researches provided by the center could be applied in promoting national industry. "IRCC "is the taking off pad for promoting our industry," he said.
Dr. Osman added that the ministry relies on the center in addition in coordination with other research centers for increasing productivity and benefiting from available resources.
He added he will make frequent visits to the center to follow up its plans to see the position of implementing its reaches and consultancy on the ground.
For his part, the undersecretary of the ministry of industry, Shazali Mohamed Abdel Majid, said IRCC is the key to the future of industry in Sudan through the utilization of modern industrial technology and science.
"Applying such scientific knowledge on researches carried out by the center would mean the implementation of the ministry's plan aiming at developing industry in the country which is a priority," Abdel Majid said.
He emphasized the role of research in promoting grain oil, leather and engineering industries and said his ministry would provide all support so that the center could carry out its role in applying the ministry's plans and policies for modernizing the Sudanese industrial sector.
In the same context, IRCC's director, Dr. Azhari Mohammed Al-Badawi said the center has been working hard to develop engineering designs and provide industrial advices to the industrial sector for promoting industrial production.
He added the center is undertaking now a number of projects for revamping its internal infrastructure by the signing of a contract for rehabilitating its internal network, buying new computers, in addition to the signing of a contract for establishing a laboratory. He said an understanding has been signed for developing and modernizing leather center technology.
It is worth noting that IRCC was established in 1965 with the assistance of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
